Prawet is Bangkok's southeast district, best known to visitors for two things that sit on opposite ends of the experiential spectrum: Srinagarindra Train Night Market (Rod Fai Srinakarin), one of the city's best vintage markets, and King Rama IX Park (Suan Luang Rama IX), Bangkok's largest public green space at 200 acres. The district itself is spacious and residential. The Airport Rail Link connecting the city with Suvarnabhumi Airport is at the district's northern edge, while the MRT Yellow Line with 3 stations and Suan Luang Rama IX station (YL15) being the most important of them, provides the most direct rail link to the Srinakarin Road attractions.

Areas within Prawet
Srinakarin Road corridor is the district's commercial spine, running north–south through the western half and anchored by Seacon Square (one of Southeast Asia's largest malls), Paradise Park and the entrance to the Srinagarindra Train Night Market behind them. The MRT Yellow Line's Suan Luang Rama IX station sits on this road. Nong Bon subdistrict occupies the center of the district and is primarily residential, bordered to the west by the green belt of King Rama IX Park. Dokmai subdistrict in the south-east is the quietest and most rural-feeling area.
Things to do in Prawet
Srinagarindra Train Night Market (Rod Fai Srinakarin)
The original Train Night Market on Srinakarin Soi 51 behind Seacon Square is Bangkok's best vintage and antiques bazaar — three zones (Market Zone, Warehouse Zone and Rod's Antiques) spread across an open site packed with retro Americana, Thai vintage clothing, second-hand motorcycles, rattan furniture, vinyl records and some of the cheapest and most varied street food in the city. It operates Thursday to Sunday from 5 pm to 1 am; take the MRT Yellow Line to Suan Luang Rama IX (YL15) and walk 3–4 minutes.
King Rama IX Park (Suan Luang Rama IX)
At 200 acres, this is Bangkok's largest public park — built for King Bhumibol's 60th birthday in 1987 — with botanical gardens representing plants from all of Thailand's regions, a large lake with paddleboat rental (฿50/30 min), cycling lanes and a royal pavilion museum. Entrance is ฿10; the park is open daily 5 am–8 pm and is best visited in the early morning or late afternoon. The annual flower festival in December draws large crowds and is worth timing a visit around.
Nong Bon Water Sports & Marine Center (Nong Bon Lake)
Located adjacent to King Rama IX Park, this massive flood-retention reservoir doubles as one of Bangkok’s top outdoor recreation spots. Visitors can rent sailboats, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards for a nominal annual membership fee (around ฿40–฿60 for locals/expats), or enjoy the 4-kilometer paved perimeter track popular with cyclists, runners, and dog owners.

Eat & drink in Prawet
Prawet's food scene centers on the Srinakarin corridor — the Train Night Market alone concentrates more variety in one site than most districts can claim in total, ranging from Thai street food staples to imported beer and live-band bar tables.
Srinagarindra Train Night Market food stalls
The Market Zone of Rod Fai Srinakarin has over 100 food stalls serving everything from pad thai and grilled river prawns to rotisserie chicken, papaya salad and mango sticky rice, all at ฿40–฿150 per dish in a sit-down-with-a-beer setting that no other Bangkok market quite matches. Open Thursday to Sunday 5 pm–1 am; arrive hungry at 6 pm when the stalls are fully stocked and the evening crowds haven't yet peaked.
Seacon Square food court (5th floor)
The food court inside Seacon Square is a genuine local haunt rather than a tourist convenience — more than 60 stalls covering Central Thai, Northern Thai, Isaan, Chinese-Thai and Muslim-Thai cooking at ฿50–฿100 per plate, operating daily 10 am–9 pm and drawing an almost entirely Thai clientele. Use the prepaid card system (฿100 deposit) and the Thai boat noodle stall near the east entrance is consistently the most popular station.
Rod Fai Warehouse Zone bar strip
The open-air bar section inside the Warehouse Zone of the Train Night Market is lined with converted VW van bars, retro petrol-station cocktail shacks and live-music stages that run Thursday to Sunday from around 7 pm, drawing Bangkok's vintage-culture crowd. Draft beer runs ฿70–฿100; the atmosphere — retro Americana décor, outdoor tables, rotating bands — is the real attraction. No cover charge.
Getting to and around Prawet
The Airport Rail Link Ban Thap Chang station serves the district's northern edge; from there, the Train Night Market is a 15-minute Grab or taxi ride (฿60–฿100). The MRT Yellow Line's Srinagarindra 38 (YL14), Suan Luang Rama IX (YL15) and Si Udom (YL16) stations provide the most direct rail access to the Srinakarin corridor — take the Yellow Line from Samrong BTS interchange. From Suvarnabhumi Airport, the district is 15–25 minutes by expressway (฿180–฿250 plus tolls and airport surcharge) — the closest Bangkok district to the airport after Lat Krabang.
